Although it's not required, when you are dialing out to someone, it's recommended that you dial the full number, including the country/region code. Microsoft Teams Rooms can also do this, but they are actually dual-stack clients, they have an SfB client that makes the call directly without using the Office 365 gateway. As the meeting organizer, you can dial out using the Skype for Business app to let other people join the same meeting using their phone. The Teams user needs to be in Teams only otherwise their federation is still via Skype for Business and must have federation enabled. This call is going via that SfB federation gateway.

Digging into it a bit, I found that the buzzing ceased when I exited Skype for Business. Said buzzing was reminiscent of dial tones of yore. That link takes you to a web page that is just a button to launch a link to a SIP URI. Since starting to use Microsoft Teams, I’ve been encountering an issue when calling in to meetings when joining a meeting, I’d get a loud buzzing on top of the meeting audio. If the zoom user has the feature enabled, at the very bottom of the invite, there is a link to “Join by Skype for Business.” In this example, I’ll use Zoom, but it will be much the same for any meeting platform that allows SfB SIP URI dial-in.
